Choir and Music

St Edmund’s has a talented, mixed age choir which consists of all abilities and experiences. The choir usually sing at our 10am service on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month and at Festival and special services and their contribution to leading and enhancing the music worship experience at St Ed’s is fully appreciated.

The church possesses a Binns three manual organ and Yamaha grand piano and St Edmund’s often welcomes visiting orchestras and choirs throughout the year.

We currently have a vacancy for a Choir Leader to develop and oversee the choir in our church. If you would like to apply or would like an informal chat, please contact our vicar, Michelle. Details below.

Choir Leader (part-time)

St Edmund’s Church, Roundhay

This is an exciting and rewarding post for someone to lead and develop our choir in this growing multigenerational parish church.  We have a robed choir with a range of ages, experience and abilities, and we are keen to grow and develop our existing choir as well as encourage new and younger members. You do not need to have keyboard skills as we have a committed organist / pianist who supports choir rehearsals and services. This role involves directing our mixed-age choir, expanding our music repertoire, and collaborating closely with our talented organist / pianist, clergy, and musicians to enhance our worship through music. Experience in conducting and teaching choral techniques to amateur singers as well as knowledge of Anglican music, are therefore essential. We recognise that our choir leader will need regular Sunday rest and holidays, as well as time to worship themselves, so our current service pattern requires a working commitment of around 32 Sundays term-time only except for major festivals. You would be required to lead some evening services and Thursday evening choir practice for one hour during term time and for Festival or special services. A Genuine Occupational Requirement exists for the post-holder to be a Christian.

Annual salary in line with RSCM guidelines: £3608 per annum paid monthly.

For more details about the post or to apply contact Revd Michelle Lepine on vicar@stedmundsroundhay.org.uk

Closing date for applications is 28th May 2026 and interviews expected mid / end June 2026. Anticipated start date September 2026.

An enhanced DBS Disclosure is required for the successful applicant.
