Baptisms for children and adults
We welcome babies, children and adults living in the Roundhay community to come for baptism (also called christening) at St Edmund’s. You do not have to be a regular churchgoer.
Baptisms for children and adults are a simple but important ceremony. We use it to welcome new members into the church family. Often we baptise babies and their family makes a commitment to take their new child on the Christian journey. We also welcome older children and adults for baptism who have already started that journey.
Baptism families are given a prayer card, a book of bible stories, a candle and a church magazine. This helps them get involved in church activities if they wish. At the service we promise as a church to support them in their Christian life. Baptisms are held during the 10 am Sunday family service once a month.
