Activities for children and young people at St Edmund’s
Children’s activities at St Edmund’s play a big part in church life, ranging from baptisms (christenings) and weekday services for toddlers, to monthly bible study groups for teenagers.
“Let the little children come to me, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Luke 18 vs 16
St Ed’s offers weekly children’s groups during the 10a.m. service for children age 3-14 years.
There is an area in church for parents and toddlers with space for them to sit and play. There is also a quiet room with baby changing and feeding facilities which can be used at any time during the service if your child becomes restless. Parents can hear the Service in this room and sometimes there is a Storytime here.
We invite children in Year 3 and above to consider taking part in Communion before confirmation.
Activities for young people are at the heart of the work and worship of St Edmund’s. Our young people take part in leading services and helping with a wide range of activities.
We run annual confirmation preparation sessions and for young people in high school there is a monthly discussion group StEdY where we encourage teenagers to journey in faith and make new friends.
Each term we run Worship All Together services and WOW (Workshop of Worship) sessions so all the young people of the church can meet together and explore different ways of worshipping God through music, games, prayer and messy activities!
We hold termly social events, for example helping to clear leaves from the church grounds in Autumn and the popular “Scrub and Grub” session assisting with church spring cleaning, followed by a fish and chip lunch
Don’t miss out on our sausage sandwiches, served after Parade services – a great chance to chat to other parents and get to know each other a little better.
